We help premature and sick babies in the UK to give every baby the best possible future

Story

Recenty during January 2012 I decided I wanted to run The Bupa Great North Run, for a charity called BLISS ( Babys born too soon, too small, too sick ) After my friend Caitlin lost her twin baby boys Harry & George Anderson at 8weeks old. Harry weighed 1lb 4oz while George was a tiny bit heavier at 1lb 5oz..Hard to understand how small unless you saw them. It was such a tragedy, and very upsetting, even for people who didn't know them very well. I also saw what great work they do in the neo natal units in hospitals accross the UK when my ex partner Terri gave birth to her daughter Kadie 6weeks early, she weighed 4lb 6oz, and was looked after very well for 2 weeks by the special care unit @ Scarborough Hospital.

After a serious accident in 2003 left me fighting for my life in a coma, and making a mirracle recovery, I was determind to defy all odds after being told things like running were out of the question. Due to the serious injuries sustained my training for The Bupa Great North Run has been tough to say the least so far, but I don't give up.. ever. I will be aiming to run the 13.1 miles in 2 hours or under. I would like to give some thing back to such a great and needing cause.. 'BLISS'.

*** UPDATE *** Training has been going brilliantly and I was ready for this run until being involved in another motrcycle accident yesterday afternoon (16/08/2012) suffering lots of scrapes, bruies, bumps and lumps and a broken foot/toe !! With only 4 weeks to go it is touch and go.. I will still be taking on the Bupa Great North Run...I will do my best to run it the whole way but due to injuries sustained yesterday right now I can only hope. Believe. **************************** Just like to let everyone know that I have had to withdraw my entry to The Bupa Great North Run, after have a serious motorbike accident on 16th August.. I struggled to fully recover after fracturing my toe/foot and after getting a very serious infection in my leg. All money donated will go to the chosen charity BLISS ! I will be taking part in another half marathon as soon as I get better and fit again.. and taking part in The Bupa Great North Run 2013. I will continue to raise money for my chosen charity.

Add me on Facebook, or Twitter to follow how I am getting on with my training..

Bliss is the leading UK charity for babies born premature or sick. We rely on donations to fund our work but with one baby admitted to neonatal care every five minutes we don’t have the resources to reach every baby who needs us. Your donation can help Bliss ensure every baby gets the best care.
