Diabetes UK is the charity leading the fight against the UK's devastating and fastest growing health crisis, working to create a world where diabetes can do no harm. It’s a fight that involves all of us – sharing knowledge and taking diabetes on together. Join us.

Story

I'm Alex and I'm 16. I also have type 1 diabetes. I found out early this year and have come so far and overcome lots of fears as well as other things in the last couple of months.

I am taking part in a challenge called Swim22 which is a challenge created by Diabetes UK. I will swim the equivalent of the English Channel (22 miles) in just under 2 months.

The point of me doing this is to raise as much awareness of type 1 and type 2 diabetes and raise as much money as possible so that there is more medical support and more money to go towards research in finding a cure for this life changing condition.

As of November last year, 3,033,529 people were diagnosed with diabetes in England alone! (If you would like more information about diabetes please go to www.diabetes.org.uk)

I hope that you are able to dig deep and sponsor me to do this challenge because it is now an interest to me as I aspire to make more people aware of this condition by completing this challenge and other activities as well. Thank you!
