Story
As some of you may know in June 2016 my Dad had a heart attack. After a full recovery, further tests in October showed he had developed a rare and aggressive form of cancer called Angiosarcoma.
Angiosarcoma belongs to a group of cancers called Sarcomas which occurs in the linings of blood vessels. In the UK alone, around 3,800 new cases are diagnosed each year, representing just 1% of all cancers.
It's difficult to put into words how you feel when your 49 year old Dad has developed a cancer with such a poor prognosis. Irrespective of this, he is giving all he has to try and beat this disease. His positive attitude and mental strength has been inspirational and I am so proud of him. After starting his second round of unpleasant chemotherapy sessions, he still works, manages to go to the gym and is still trying to live life to the full. My Mum has radically changed his diet and spends her time preparing lots of healthy smoothies and vitamin-fuelled supplements when she is not researching on ways to beat this illness. Thankfully, Dad's last two scans were positive as they showed the cancer has not spread.
Since his diagnosis, my Dad has been attending the Royal Marsden Hospital Sarcoma Unit and undergoing chemotherapy. He has received the most excellent care and treatment from the Sarcoma Team for which my family could not be more thankful.
As a token of my gratitude I have decided to start fundraising for the Royal Marsden Hospital. I know that my Dad is going through a really tough time so I wanted to show my support by signing up and embarrassing myself in the London Marathon (I know, I couldn't believe it either...).
Any donation - no matter how big or small - would be very much appreciated for this fantastic hospital.
The Italian Stallion don't know when to quit so why should I.
Thank you for taking the time to ready my story.
