As you may know , Ali was diagnosed with. Grade 3 cancerous brain tumour in October 2021. Immediate surgery  removed most of the tumour, and he has completed a 6 week course of radiotherapy at Bart’s. He is now five months into a one year course of chemotherapy, all of which is standard NHS treatment for this type of cancer.

Immunotherapy is a new type of treatment which has been shown to increase survival time , and reduce the incidence of tumour recurrence. However it does not form part of the NHS standard treatment programme as the many years of trials required , are not yet complete.

Ali has , with the agreement of his NHS Bart’s oncology team , sought private advice from one of the UKs top neuro oncology consultants , Matt Williams. He has suggested he approach Cegat , a clinic in Germany , who have demonstrated success in a type of immunotherapy treatment. 

Subject to test results on the tumour tissue, which should be complete by the end of August 2022, Ali will undergo treatment at their clinic in Germany . Further treatments are planned.
