"FOUR PEAKS" HIGH WIRE AERIAL EXTREME CHALLENGE 2010 - COMPLETED SUCCESSFULLY!!!!
My daughter Rachel was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes when she was only 5 years old and it caused some major changes to her life. She quickly adjusted to the regime of insulin injections and blood tests several times a day, showing a level of maturity well beyond her years. She continues to live a healthy and active life while we need to closely monitor her blood sugar levels - it is a constant battle waged within her young body (Low blood sugar may lead to seizures or episodes of unconsciousness requiring emergency treatment. High blood sugar may lead to increased tiredness and can also result in long term damage to other organs such as eyes and joints).
I decided to do something that would help sufferers of Diabetes by supporting the Diabetes UK charity. The challenge I chose, along with my brother Barrie, was to complete the 4 High Wire Aerial Extreme adventure courses around the country in one weekend, no mean feat when you consider I have a really poor head for heights that leads to dizziness at the top of a step ladder!

On the morning of Saturday 4th September, we commenced the 2-hour high wire challenge at Willen Lake (Milton Keynes) before driving up to Staffordshire to do another 2-hour challenge in the afternoon at the Trentham Estate.
On Sunday 5th September, we drove to Knowsley Safari Park (Merseyside) to start the third 2-hour high wire challenge of the weekend before hitting the road again and driving all the way to Bedale (North Yorkshire) for the grand finale, a gruelling 2.5-hour high wire challenge.
