Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.
On 25th July 2006, my father, Jeff Sloman, died at the Sue Ryder Care hospice in Nettlebed. He received wonderful care throughout his stay.
In my father's memory, I started walking on the 1st of March, and walked through April, May & June of 2007. I walked 1,687 miles on a very long LEJOG - Land's End to John O'Groats walk. I took in the Lizard (ie, most southerly point of Mainland Britain) then walked over the old Severn Bridge, completing the whole of Offa's Dyke from Chepstow to Prestatyn, then nipped over to Edale to do the entire Pennine Way. I then cut between Edinburgh & Glasgow to Oban on the West coast of Scotland, then headed to Montrose on the East Coast on the TGO Challenge walk, then back west to Strathcarron on the West coast,, then up to Cape Wrath, then along the top, passing through the Flow Country, to Dunnet Head (most northerly point) and thence John O'Groats and Duncansby Head.
The walk took me four months. I funded the walk myself and so all money raised will go to Sue Ryder.
I had never walked further than 200 miles before, so this was a massive challenge for me.
You can find out more about my preparations and the walk itself by visiting my blog: www.alansloman.blogspot.com I wrote to the blog whilst acually on the walk, so do visit it and sponsor me.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to donate: Sue Ryder Care will receive your money electronically and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in Gift Aid will be added to your donation at no cost to you.
Please donate generously.
Many thanks for your support.
