Story
Dad was admitted into Watford General Hospital on Monday 9th March 2020 with pneumonia and possible sepsis. Shortly after admission he tested positive for COVID-19. He spent a week in the Intensive Care Unit before moving to the Royal Papworth Hospital. I am forever grateful that Watford General Hospital saw potential in Dad to fight COVID-19 and recommended him for ECMO support at the Royal Papworth Hospital. The consultants at Watford General Hospital found themselves in unprecedented times, but despite this, they never gave up on Dad and persistently sought new ways to treat him. All those caring for Dad demonstrated complete compassion not only to us as a family, but also towards Dad and provided him with the very best care.
After a long, hard fight, Dad sadly passed away on Friday 10th April 2020. Dad passed away peacefully with Mum and Jonathan by his side.
We are truly thankful to all the staff at Watford General Hospital and while Dad's fight against COVID-19 has come to an end, the NHS staff continue to battle. We would kindly welcome donations to Supporting the NHS Staff Leading the COVID-19 Response. Donations will provide things like radios and toiletries for patients in isolation. It will also go a long way to providing the hardworking staff with hygiene packs so that they can continue to save lives whilst protecting their own.
Thank you.
