Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Alan was a fan of football throughout his life, following our dad's example, watching any televised matches, but especially supporting Chelsea football club.

He could be found playing with friends whenever he had the chance, both at home and school, taking the position of goal keeper. It didn't matter if the goal was a couple of coats, a garage door, or the real thing.

He also had a real love of helping others and providing support whenever he could, and helped his friends when they were setting up the Sands United football team in Northampton. This has been the blueprint for many more teams around the country.

Alan was diagnosed with cancer and had received treatment which appeared to have been successful, even as recently as Christmas 2022. It had spread and by the end of February, it was clear that no treatment was available.

During March, Alan was taken into the Cynthia Spencer hospice where his health declined rapidly. He was comfortable there, and died on March 14th.
