Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my Just Giving page.
I have a moderate hearing loss and I am walking not just to raise funds but to increase awareness of Hearing Loss and it's associated difficulties.Furthermore.
I hope to widen the profile and work of The Audiology User Group (TAUG). The objective of TAUG is work towards excellence for Audiology services in South East Essex. The membership is made up of Audiology patients and NHS management and staff. I am Chair of the group and proud to say that over the three years since it was constituted many improvements have resulted from it's efforts. For example the number of locations offering hearing aid battery exchange has increased providing greater convenience. Several environmental changes have been instituted to make Southend Hospital a more friendly place for patients with sensory impairment. TAUG has also worked closely with outside agencies such as Action On Hearing Loss and Social Services to bring about greater availability of information and assistance that is available for people with Hearing Loss.
Last year I raised £300 which enabled the Audiology Clinic to purchase two portable hearing loops to consultations a more productive and comfortable experience. This demonstrates that in this field of treatment a relatively small amount can make a significant improvement. This year, on September 21, I am walking to raise money towards the purchase of a listening device to assist patients when participating in group consultations and discussions. The cost of this equipment is £500.
I would be grateful for your support and if you would like join me on the 7km walk you are welcome.
Thank you
Alan Willis
