Story
In 1999 I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, with it being hereditary on both sides of my family and my lifestyle as it was it took many years for me to come to terms with the fact that unless I wanted to lose limbs, my eyesight and potentially my life, something had to change!
I started running last August and have since run 2 Half Marathons and am training regularly. As a result I lost 3 stone in weight, became a lot fitter, managed to get taken off one of the tablets which helped lower my sugars and have just had only my 2nd "clean bill of health" from the Doctor after my M.O.T.
It's still a daily struggle to eat healthy not rubbish and will no doubt continue to be that way, but I'm hoping that running will not only keep me healthy but help change my lifestyle 15 years on from diagnosis.
Thank you for any donation no matter how big or small, there are plenty of people out there that need help from Diabetes UK that haven't had their "lightbulb moment" yet and I'm hoping that the donation you've given and any motivation I can impart on them can help their lives change for the better.
Thank you
