Story
I'm running the British 10k in London on 8 July 2012 for Independent Age. Independent Age is a national information and advice service for older people, their families and carers, focusing on three areas of provision - social care, including care at home, in hospital and residential care; welfare benefits; and befriending services and other social support.
As medical science has greatly improved our longevity (shouldn't be long until we start getting cybernetic implants to keep us ticking over for 200 years) the welfare state has fallen behind in it's provision and duty of care for the elderly. So, why not make a donation to help this ageing country look after it's oldest and wisest citizens a little bit better!
I've run the British 10k previously in 2008 and manged to compete it in 45 minutes. Although I've only had two and a half weeks to train and being a full time Dad means I've started from a position of being a bit of a chunky monkey, I'm looking to equal or better that time. Feel the pain! The more donations received the more likely I am to bust a gut around London Town. A spare gold nugget or two will do! Cheers.
