I do enjoy a challenge now and again….Ok, I may be slightly mad in attempting this one…but having watched cycling’s finest athletes battling with Mont Ventoux in the Tour de France…I thought this would be a good challenge…
The Club des Cinglés du Mont-Ventoux (loosely translated “Mont Ventoux Madman Club”) is a closed club open to people who complete:
· ascent of the Mont Ventoux from three main roads (Bédoin, Malaucène et Sault) at least;
· climbs in the same day
Refer to the following website for more info. http://www.clubcinglesventoux.org/en.html
The route is known as “Cinglé” and involves a distance of 136km and 4443m change in altitude. (To put this in to context, Ben Lomond is 974m so, 4.5 times Ben Lomond).
Climbing the mountain once would be difficult enough, but cycling the “beast of Provence” using three different routes in one day is surely worth digging deep for, all in the aid of a very worthwhile cause!!
Many Thanks (and spread the word).
