<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span style="font-size: 11pt; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial;" lang="EN-US">Putney Samaritans is a financially independent charity; Samaritan Branches receive no funding from the national organisation of Samaritans.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span style="font-size: 11pt; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial;" lang="EN-US"><br />• The branch covers the following SW postal codes: 2, 4, 6, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19 – a London population of over 650,000. Callers can talk to a Sam 24/7 including Christmas, Easter, New Year’s Eve, whenever. Our main expenses are offices, phones, publicity and training.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span style="font-size: 11pt; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial;" lang="EN-US"><br />• Over 120 unpaid volunteers answer about 40,000 phone calls a year (about a fifth of those we talk to are suicidal), volunteers do about 4 hours per week listening and responding to emails. About a third of them do additionally about 4 hours or more a week in publicity, recruitment, training, admin, outreach to schools, prison visiting etc</span></p>
