Story
I'd love you to support me in raising funds for Macmillan Cancer Support - this is why I am doing this:
Everyone has been, or knows someone who has been, affected by cancer, as a sufferer, a carer, or a friend or family member.
All too often brave 'battles' against cancer end in death and over the years I have lost family members, friends and colleagues to cancer. Sometimes these battles are mercifully short, at other times they are a roller coaster of ups and downs that can last for many years.
I have also know people who have come through major cancer scares, undergone surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, etc. and have come through this and regained their health.
The impact in all cases on the individuals, their family members and friends has been huge and, at times, all-consuming.
I have also been directly involved in supporting a cancer carer and I know how tough this can be - both physically due to the long hours involved and emotionally in caring for patients and their families.
I know the difference that Macmillan make to many people affected by cancer and I feel privileged to be doing my bit to help them with the work that they do..
Thank you!
Alan
