Story

This summer I will be taking part in the National Three Peaks Challenge. This involves climbing the three highest peaks of Scotland, England and Wales in 24 hours to raise money for the charity Rainforest Trust UK.

About the charity

Tropical deforestation accounts for up to 15% of net global carbon emissions - thats about the same as the emissions from the entire global transportation sector. Therefore, protecting rainforests is probably the most effective way to fight climate change whilst preserving biodiversity. The simplest and most cost-effective solution to prevent deforestation is to create legally-recognised protected areas so that is what Rainforest Trust does.Rainforest Trust UK aims to protect threatened tropical forests and endangered wildlife worldwide by partnering with local and community organisations in and around vulnerable areas. Through these highly effective partnerships, they can ensure sustainable results necessary for the long term protection of tropical ecosystems and the wildlife they hold.
