Story
To the beautiful human reading this, I just want to say thank you in advance for taking the time to visit my fundraising page.
I am already beyond grateful that you’ve taken a moment out of your day, and I hope even if you are unable to donate, it gives you a little information about the wonderful charity I’m hoping to raise vital funds for.
To explain a little about myself, my name is Aimée Chantelle and I am currently raising funds for the charity Mind.
In particular the Dorset branch of the charity and on May 27th I will jump 15,000 feet from a plane, in a tandem sky dive, in an attempt to highlight and raise awareness of this wonderful cause and hopefully reach my £1000 target in memory of my late little sister Robyn Danielle.
Mind is a British charity and provides national advice and support to all those enduring mental health problems. It seeks to empower, raise awareness, lobbies, assemble funds for, and deliver services to all those suffering (1 in 4 people will suffer with a diagnosable mental health disorder in their lifetime). In 2021 alone, their local branches supported 406,000 people.
As an individual, as have many others, my life has been directly affected by mental health issues, both first hand and vicariously. I am therefore exceptionally passionate about this topic and making a difference in the lives of those experiencing adversity as a result of it.
It is an issue many of us (either directly or indirectly) have been affected by and I can only hope that together, we can make a difference to one day develop and maintain an international solution - so that no one ever has to suffer alone or without help again.
For me, my journey started from a young age, but the most significant turn came on a sunny afternoon on April 11th in 2010. For in very sudden and in very tragic circumstances, on the most beautiful spring day, I lost my 15 year old little sister to a mental health battle that resulted in her suicide.
It is an experience that has had a deep and profound impact on my life, one of which that has caused an ache that has never truly healed. One though, that has also inspired me to become the best person I can be, to spread kindness to all, and to make a difference in each and any way I can to all those around me and within the world.
Even if each of us can make the smallest difference to anyone in the future, or stop this from happening to another individual or family then facing the fear of jumping from a plane at a stupidly great height is worth it.
Please give generously if possible. If not smile at a stranger, reach out to those you love and be the kindest you can. It might just save someone..
We rise by lifting others.
We can be the change we wish to see in the world,.
And only by giving are we able to receive more than we already have.
The most love and sunshine
Aimée xx
