Story
Thank you for making it to my JustGiving page!
Almost 2 years ago, I decided to take part in The Clipper Race, one of the biggest challenges of the natural world and an endurance test like no other. A record breaking 40,000 nautical mile race around the world on a 70-foot ocean racing yacht. With no prior sailing experience, I needed to come up to speed, and quick! A year and half, and through 4 levels of training, I’m now ready to embark on this epic adventure! I’ll be joining my team, Dare To Lead in Fremantle, Australia in early December 2019. My race will take the fleet deeper south than ever before; there will be nothing between us and the South Pole!
Leadership and inspiration is at the heart of the ethos of my team, Dare To Lead. Rather than sail under the banner of a particular organisation or geographical location, Dare To Lead will fly the flag of teamwork, determination, innovation, and leadership as its branded 70-foot ocean racing yacht energises crew, family and friends and corporate sponsors alike as it races around the world.
Mike Penrose, Unicef UK’s Executive Director, says: “We are incredibly proud to be the Charity Partner of the Clipper Race for the third edition in a row. The Clipper Race challenges everyday people from across the globe to come together and work as a team, in a true test of their ability, bravery, and courage. The global sailing event also helps us to support vulnerable children in the incredible difficulties and challenges they face around the world as they experience hunger, disease and living in war-torn countries.".
In the previous edition, The Clipper Race raised £373,000 to UNICEF. Your generous contribution here will surely help us smash this target and is greatly appreciated!
