Story

As we approach the 7th anniversary of her beloved auntie, Deirdre Angland, who sadly lost her battle with cancer on the 14th of July at age 43 and leaving behind 5 young children, our 10 year old daughter, Talia Barry, has decided to cut her hair in Harrods, Knightsbridge and donate it to the Little Princess Trust Charity while raising as much money as she can in doing so and to help bring awareness to this awful and devastating disease.

The wonderful support and generosity our local community and beyond gave us throughout Deirdre's illness is something the whole family will be forever grateful for. Numerous donations and fundraising events took place in her memory and as a result we raised £43,000.00!
In her honor this money went towards the purchase of a machine called RainDance. This machine provides valuable information to the Hematology Department at Hammersmith Hospital and helps other patients with their fight against Leukemia.

The Little Princess Trust provides free, real hair wigs to children and young people who are suffering with cancer or who are experiencing the devastating effects of hair loss at such a young age. Each wig can cost up to £550 to make so Talia’s decision to cut off her hair and donate it to the Little Princess Trust to make these wigs is something we support and are especially proud of her for doing so also while raising as much money as she can to help fund their pioneering, life -saving research into childhood cancers.

Unfortunately we have all been affected by cancer, directly or indirectly. 4 years after her aunt passed away Talia's grandmother, Gabriela, also lost her fight to cancer.
Both women were a big part of Talia’s life and she was inspired by their strength and positivity throughout their illnesses, however cancer in children and young people just seems too cruel to imagine.
If cutting her hair and donating it to LPT to make a wig will make even just one child feel a little sense of normality again then it will be worth everything to Talia, and maybe even inspire others to do the same and go for the chop!

The last year has been incredibly difficult for everyone, especially financially but Talia would love all the support she can get so if you can kindly donate to such an incredible and worthy cause she will be forever grateful to you all and will do this in memory of the two special people she lost, but in return will help others.

Thank you
