Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Turning 60 is one of those big moments in life. It makes you pause and reflect. To be thankful for many blessings and to look ahead positively.
I wanted to use the year to try some different things as well as more familiar ones. To both stretch and enjoy myself. Hence 60 at 60-60 things over the year. Some have been big-like walking the Pilgrims Way-136 miles-from Winchester to Canterbury (in two parts). It was physically demanding but a chance to enjoy the countryside; spend time with God and pray for persecuted Christians. Others have just fun-like a 60's quiz or visiting places within 60 miles. There have been a variety over the year and I posted regular updates about them.
60 at 60 to raise £6 000 for Open Doors. This was the biggest challenge of all and I still need your help despite having surpassed the target. Last year 260 million Christians were persecuted for their faith; nearly 3 000 killed; women and girls targeted. Open Doors supports persecuted Christians in countries like Burkina Faso in West Africa, number 32 on the World Watch list. Women like Naomi, whose pastor husband was killed by militants leaving her with 9 children and no income. She had to move to another city where a local church helped her and Open Doors partners were able to come in and help her get back on her feet. "When the Pastor said some help had come I didn't believe it" she said." But today God's promises have been fulfilled. God will richly bless those we gave to support us".
I hope that you enjoy being part of my continuing journey. But more importantly I hope that you will be inspired by some of the stories I share and be encouraged to give and share in the blessing too.
