Story
As most of you probably know, I was diagnosed with an aggressive form of Breast Cancer on the 8th July 2019. My world literally fell apart, right there sat on that little chair looking into the eyes of a total stranger informing me I had Stage 3 Cancer that had already spread to my lymph nodes under my arm.
From that day onwards, I have endured 4.5 months of Chemo, a Lumpectomy, endless MRI, CT, Bone and Heart scans and have Radiotherapy to look forward to which will be starting in the next few weeks, every day for a month. I have to have Hormone Therapy every 3 weeks right through till October so I've a long way to go yet, but do feel I am over the worst (fingers crossed).
I cannot even begin to think how much little old me has cost the poor NHS to date… they are treating on average 150 people per day in the Chemo ward at astronomical costs. I have felt nothing but love and encouragement from every NHS worker I have come across. They are under payed massively and over worked and I am in awe of every single one of them. It is for this reason, I feel I need to give something back… a need to help fight the bastard that is 'Cancer.'
I'm scarred emotionally and physically but I am winning, and I will continue to beat it and that is why I have chosen to do something that will challenge me mentally and physically. Cycling is hard, it's tough and that is the challenge I wanted. (I hate cycling). Me, Georgia and my sister Tracy and brother in law Shaun will be cycling The Coast2Coast in July in aid of Cancer. It's 135 miles of tough terrain from Whitehaven over to Sunderland in 3 days.
So that's it in a nutshell…if you can sponsor us, no matter how small or large it would be greatly appreciated. It's going to be tough but I'm sure compared to the battle every person in that Chemo ward is going through daily, it will be a breeze!!!!!
