Story
Hello.
Well, as many of you know on the 20 January 2009 my dad lost his battle with Alzheimer's. This has had a pretty profound effect on mine and my families life and has changed many of our outlooks and thoughts.
Basically I want to do my bit to help combat this devastating disease as I've seen first hand the effect it can have.
Hopefully this will be the first of many events I take part in to raise as much money as I can to help with the research into the disease to help prevent future cases and also to help the care of both patients and families who are currently suffering as people sometime don't realise how hard and time consuming it can be.
The event is a full marathon! It entails running 26 miles around lake Windermere with my sister and her boyfriend.
I feel I am doing it for a worthy cause that is close to my heart, and it should be great for all involved including me and all the charities that will hopefully benefit.
If you want to learn more about Alzheimer's their website: http://alzheimers.org.uk/ is interesting and has many accounts of both families and sufferers.
So thanks very much for hearing me out and please donate all you can for an extremely worthwhile cause.
