Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I'm donating my birthday to Cancer Research... in other words I'm fundraising to help save lives by discovering new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer.
Cancer is a disease which many many families are affected by at one time or another: Cancer is a leading cause of death worldwide, accounting for 7.6 million deaths (around 13% of all deaths) in 2008 (via the WHO). That's more that one in ten!
It's been my sad personal experience this year to have lost both family and friends to this horrible disease. However, I am privileged to know people who have been diagnosed and have subsequently been given the all-clear after treatment. That is due to the essential work of charities and institutions who are striving to rid this world of cancer.
I am therefore asking you, yes YOU!, whether you know me or not, whether you might have considered giving me a gift or not, to please help me achieve my goal of raising over £500 for Cancer Research. Regardless of how small a donation you give, every little bit helps.
For those of you that know me, instead of material gifts, I'm asking that you help Cancer Research UK save more lives by discovering new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer.
