Story
When a child suddenly becomes seriously ill, there's no time to plan.
Imagine one day your young child is suddenly diagnosed with a life-threatening illness, requiring months of treatment at a hospital hundreds of miles away from your home. Along with all the other critical questions to process there's another one...where will you stay?
The Sick Children's Trust is the charity that gives families one less thing to worry about by giving them a place to stay–and someone to talk to–free of charge, just minutes from their child's bedside.
Here's my personal connection: 40 years ago, my dad (Dr. Jonathan Pritchard) was a pediatric oncologist at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London. Every day, he saw the extreme stress and logistical challenges that the parents of his young patients faced as they travelled from far and wide for their child's treatment. He and a core team decided to take action and they founded the Sick Children's Trust in 1982, and opened the first "Home from Home" in 1984.
On this milestone anniversary, I wanted to do my part and honor the memory of him and the founding team for their compassion, dedication and vision, so I'm heading to London in April to fundraise for the SCT in the 2023 London Marathon!
If you can, please help me support this amazing charity and make a donation now by tapping the Give Now button on this page. And if you can't give, then please at least Share with your network!
Either way - please act now...before you forget :-)
