Adam Porter is raising money for NHS Charities Together
Story
The world is a difficult place right now with everything that is going on with Covid19. Normal life has changed, businesses are on hold, sports events postponed and sadly people all over the world are dying.
We are blessed to have the NHS that is currently working extremely hard in this fight against a terrible virus. While all we have been instructed to do is stay home, stay safe and save lives.
Under current government guidelines we are allowed to leave the home for essential trips, dog walks or daily exercise. I have decided to use my daily exercise to run and continue training for events I had planned at the start of the year such as Brighton and Berlin Marathons. Covid19 has since seen Brighton Marathon postponed and rescheduled for September. This now means I will be running 2 marathons in a week as well as a be try hectic sports schedule towards the end of the year with runs, cycles and swims all looking to take place.
I was already raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support but i want to give back to our amazing NHS at the same time. So given that everywhere is closed including the barbers, I have decided I will not trim my beard or cut my hair during the lockdown period which is looking likely to be June. I am usually very well groomed, I guess rather vain so this isn’t going to be fun. But I want to put a smile on faces in my local area for people in their homes or looking out of windows so I will be continuing my training around my local area as Forrest Gump.
I’ve decided I will train wearing the famous red Bubba Gump cap, checked shirt and chino shorts or Nike tee shirt all worn by Tom Hanks in the 1994 hit film Forrest Gump.
Forrest Gump in the film ran 19,024 miles. As I will be running and cycling every other day I aim to at least reach 1,924 miles?!
