So...what started off as some alcohol fuelled Pub chat has quickly become a daunting reality. On June 26th, I’ll be competing in the South of France Ironman.
This event is an Ultra-distance triathlon consisting of a 3.8 KM Swim, 182 KM Cycle, followed by a 42 KM Run (Marathon), all within a 16-hour course cut off time. I have no previous experience of endurance events and prior to lockdown, would happily do quite literally anything to avoid any form of cardio. Unfortunately, this event was due to take place in the summer of 2021 but canceled due to this Covid thing going around. Now with dates confirmed for 2022 it's back to the training!
With the challenge set, I wanted to use this opportunity to raise some money in memory of my Grandad, to support the amazing work the team at Parkinson UK do.
Parkinson’s is the fastest-growing neurological condition in the world with life changing effects and currently no cure. With that said, any donations you can possibly make would be greatly appreciated so we can continue to research, develop and fight terrible disease.
