Eight year old Adam Finch is a superhero. Despite having to stay in the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital for a year to receive treatment for brain cancer, following the removal of a tumour in November, he thinks of others around him (as a child who had to spend time in hospital myself, I can attest that this is not the ordinary state of affairs!). He wanted to do something about the lack of toys the play team had. Thankfully he's got one hell of an amazing dad, who got together with friends and went running to raise money to get more resources for the team. 

Behind every child who has to do a long-term stay in hospital are parents full of worry, fear and sleeplessness, especially if their child is far away. For London-based Dave, visiting his son in Manchester for half of every week can accentuate these things. If it weren't for the Ronald McDonald House providing free accommodation for him, all the things that make this situation difficult would be ten times more so. 

Sticking to the theme of running (Dave and I became friends through running so it seems appropriate), I am aiming to raise £2 per mile for a two month run that I am going to do from Rome back to London. I would absolutely love to raise more because this cause is also very close to my heart (my parents stayed in a Ronald McDonald House when I had an operation at age ten and I would have fallen apart if I hadn't had them close, I was so scared and confused). 

It would be great if you could donate and help the Ronald McDonald House in Manchester so they can keep providing parents like Dave with some stability in the midst of such worry. Never underestimate the value of a place to cook, work and sleep properly.
