Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
At the start of 2016, a shockwave rippled through the heart of the Duffy family with the news that my brother Liam's Baby, Amber Duffy, had been diagnosed with a rare Liver Cancer. Amber was only 7 months old at the time of diagnosis.
It's the word and the news that no family wishes to ever hear, it's something you hear on the news and see on the tv but not something you ever expect to be that close to home.
Thankfully, both the fantastic staff at Redditch as well as the specialists at Birmingham Children's Hospital were quick to diagnose Amber's illness leading to quick and incredible treatment.
Throughout the 5 month ordeal, the strength that Liam and Charlotte have shown can only be admired and, despite all that has happened, the tests, the operations, the chemo, Amber has been so incredibly smiley and happy! She has been, and continues to be, a pure symbol of strength and fight, all before her first birthday!
Up to now, throughout this whole horrible period since the diagnosis, I have felt useless! Thankfully, Liam has opened up the opportunity for us to show the staff on Ward 15 at the Birmingham Children's Hospital just an ounce of our gratitude for their incredible care and support they have offered Amber, as well as Liam and Charlotte, since January. These people really are superheroes and deserve all the plaudits they get!
To raise money, I, along with 13 others made up from Family and Friends, will be leaping out of a plane in October in a group effort called 'Petrified Plane'. The title really does sum up my feelings about jumping out of a plane at 15000 ft, however, this fear pales into insignificance to the fear that Liam, Charlotte and the rest of my family experienced when we first heard the news, hence why ill be taking the leap (or being pushed) out of a plane come 23rd October.
Anything you can donate, no matter how small or large would be very much appreciated. I just want to show the incredible people at Birmingham Children's how thankful I am that they helped save my wonderful niece's life.
Thanks again,
Adam Duffy
