Story
Thank you for visiting my Just Giving page.
Having registered to run the London Marathon, I was slightly relieved to see the "We're Sorry" magazine on the doorstep, showing that I had not been accepted. I then glanced down and saw another magazine with "Congratulations, You're In" across the cover and the panic started to form as it dawned on me that I had actually registered twice and been "successful" with the second registration!
Having got used to the idea, I am now very much looking forward to running in this great race and I would appreciate your support along this journey.
I am running for the Alzheimer's Society, which is a charity that is very important to me. My grandad has been diagnosed with this disease, so this charity is very close to me and is giving me the inspiration to train for this event. He is a very proud man and has always been very independent. His dementia has now got so bad he is unable to dress himself each day, so he relies on my nanny to care for him, which has resulted in a deterioation in her health.
Dementia is a disease that sadly continues to rise, with 800,000 people suffering from this disease in the UK, which is expected to rise to over 1 million by 2012 and as yet there is no cure. 1 in 3 people over 65 will die of this disease.
The charity has set me the target to raise £2,000.00, which is a massive amount, so any donations would greatly help in achieving this total and will greatly benefit in the research and care for people who suffer from this incurable disease.
Please use Twitter, Facebook or good old fashioned MSN to spread the word to as many of your friends and family as possible to help me reach my target!
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
If you could please give what you can, I would be very grateful.
