Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

We are a group of Secondary School Teachers from The English Martyrs School and Sixth Form College who are running the Great North Run to raise money for CAFOD.

At the time of writing Adam Corcoran has already completed numerous events as part of his training regeme and to help raise the profile (and hopefully donations) of CAFOD.  He has completed the Marske 10k, Tees Barrage 10k and the Middlesbrough 5k races.  He is due to run in the Redcar Half Marathon on Sunday 13th June, the Middlesbrough 10k on Sunday 5th September, the Great North 10k in Sunderland on July 18th and many other races around the North East.  He is running for CAFOD to help support the important work they do across the world and to further enhance the Catholic ethos of the school.

Rebecca Fox completed the Great North Run in 2003.  She has increased her training regeme over the past few months to improve fitness levels to enable completion of the event without having to walk (like last time!).  She is running for CAFOD to help support the hard work and effort across the globe.  This also gives her the chance to show students how they can make a difference for people less fortunate than themselves.

Well it all started at Christmas with a list of things I wanted to do before I am thirty.  I had crossed one off the list by hosting a dinner party and not burning ALL the food.  The post dinner entertainment then lead to the list of things being recited (what a mistake!). What ended up being a few flippant comments has result in me signing up to do the Great North Run and is now all too real.  So if you know me well you will know shoes, handbag and make up are my thing NOT running OUTSIDE in the cold, rain or even sunny weather.  So if I am going to kill myself meeting this silly challenge I thought I had better do it for a worthwhile cause (and that is not to fund my shoe collection).  So PLEASE sponsor me.  CAFOD as it is an amazing charity and if for nothing else the thought of me doing the Great North Run will give you a laugh which is worth a pound or two.   A VERY silly Monica Thompson.

Emma thought it was about time she set herself a challenge in order to achieve something for a fantastic cause. She has always said that she would run the Great North Run "one year" so unfortunately for her "one year" has now become "this year" (thank you Monica). Her training has been on and off but will no doubt progress when she realises that September 19th is a few months away and so she had better get herself off the sofa and out running in the rain! Jokes aside, Emma is looking forward to the event and hopes to raise as much money as she can for those who need it the most.
