Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Group Captain Geoffrey Leonard Cheshire was a member of the Royal Air Force during the Second World War and later philanthropist. One of the most highly decorated pilots of the war, he was an observer of the Nagasaki nuclear event and resigned from the RAF shortly after. He founded a hospice that grew into the charity Leonard Cheshire Disability, and he became known for his work in conflict resolution.
The charity remains his proud legacy and 'supports disabled people to have the freedom to live their lives the way they choose — with the opportunity and support to live independently, contribute economically and participate fully in society'. It goes far beyond social care. It is about opportunity, something which is often all people need.
