To bring you up to speed - A team of 4 people from Wilkins Kennedy (Chandlers Ford) have agreed to complete a number of fitness challenges and tasks. The tasks will vary in nature and intensity with the first task being a 26,000 meter row to be completed between the team members on 09/01/2020. Further tasks will be voted on by the various donors and Wilkins Kennedy Offices. The tasks are being completed to further the teams fitness and abilities so that members can take part in a triathlon to raise money and awareness for The Rose Road Association.
The charity - The Rose Road Association is a charity based in Southampton that supports children and young adults with disabilities from across Hampshire. Short breaks at Rose Road can mean overnight care in the overnight respite Centre's, Oaks and Acorns, as well as community based outreach and play schemes in the school holiday and at weekends. Rose Road also provide and help to facilitate a range of support and advice services locally and in various places across the south of England. Time at Rose Road is so important for families, life with a disabled child can be full on, and sometimes a short break just allows parents and carers to catch up with every day jobs, or maybe get a few hours rest and relaxation. These short breaks also allow children and young adults time away from home, mixing with friends and visiting exciting places or chilling out in a comfortable environment. An overnight break at Rose Road costs around £357 to provide and 1 hours outreach care is £21. The Association needs to raise £500,000 every year in order to continue to provide these vital services.
Special Thanks - We would like to take a moment to thank Megan Batchelor, the owner of MGB fitness. Megan kindly suggested the idea initially and has been brilliant enough to allow us to use her MGB fitness facility as well as the time of her personal trainers. Thank you Megan!
