Story
Two years ago, I ran my first big race - the Eastbourne half marathon. Since then, the world has had to cope with Covid; most of us have faced personal difficulties as a result. Some of us have faced even greater difficulties.
The plight of the children left behind in Afghanistan distresses me; starvation and deprivation is something that no child should suffer. This suffering is not as a result of natural disaster but is caused by humans. If I can raise even a small amount of money that provides one child or their family some relief, this would be fantastic.
My time for my first half marathon was just under 2 hours 22 minutes. I aim to better this and would love to see a time of around 2 hours 15 minutes. Whatever happens, even if I have a bad day, I will complete the half marathon. If you are willing to support the work that Save the Children are doing and show virtual support for me too, I would be incredibly grateful and very appreciative.
The crisis in Afghanistan has been called the worst humanitarian crisis on earth. As a member of the Disasters Emergency Committee, Save the Children has joined forces with 14 leading aid charities to help children and families in Afghanistan cope through the winter and start rebuilding their lives.
