Abbie's running a bloody half marathon
Fundraising for WMUK
Fundraising for WMUK
I signed up to this run in September last year and essentially blame my best mate Jo and other good friend Prosecco. We were having a lovely dinner, a few casual drinks and by the end of the evening I had agreed to join her on this half marathon adventure.
Anyone that knows me well, knows this will be no easy feat for me. The longest I'd ever run before was 5k...about 4 years ago for Breast Cancer. To be honest I have enjoyed the training (at times) but it's also been really tough, especially to keep going when it's cold and wet outside. With the race taking place on 13th March, I'm under no illusion about how tough the final training push will be but with the wonderful, invaluable and at times hilarious support of my running buddies, Jo and Jen, and of course the lovely Dan, I reckon we've got a bloody good shot at getting round the course in some way, shape or form.
I'm running in support of Waldenström's Macroblobulinemia (WMUK). As it's such a rare form of blood cancer, they receive no government support, no-one at WMUK is paid and they rely purely on donations. It is treatable but not yet curable. Someone very dear to me and my family has been diagnosed with it so we'd all be delighted if you could dig deep and chuck us some cash for a very worthy cause.
Obligatory red faced, 'likely to vomit' pictures will be available for extra donations post the event.
Thanks so much in advance for your kind, generous and much appreciated support.
Cheers
