Story
My daughter Amelia was born at 33 weeks gestation due to my having severe pre-eclampsia. At only 2lb13oz (and the length of a Pringles tube!), she had to spend a month in the Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU), firstly in the high dependency unit and then in the nursery. Bliss provided us with a lot of support, from leaflets in the SCBU parents room to encouraging phone calls and reassuring forums.
As well as providing direct support for parents, Bliss are also involved in lobbying government for improved funding and guidelines, helping units improve their practise, and training specialist nurses, breast feeding advisors and parent supporters.
