Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Once again I'm back in the saddle for a mad cycling trip to raise money for the Truant Charities (Nordoff Robbins, Teenage Cancer Trust and Childline). Last time it was the desert and mountains of Morocco, this time it is the jungle of Cambodia. Mad dogs and Englishmen - Noel Coward had it right.
The off-date has not so much leapt up on me as mugged me in an alley, bashing me over the head with an iron bar. Less than 2 weeks to go and the nearest I've come to a bike recently was putting the kids's scooters in the shed before Christmas.
So as unfit as ever, still suffering from a gastronomic Christmas celebration and completely unprepared I'm off to Siem Reap in Cambodia to do 3 days cycling in the jungle covering 150 odd km in that time. The learning from the last trip is that the bikes will be of the monstrous mountain variety and tarmac will be a rarety. Already the guide has said we'll need to leave at 7am each morning to avoid the heat of the afternoon - not sure that squares up with the Truants idea of how to spend an evening however.....
We all pay our own way entirely, so ALL your money goes to the Nordoff Robins, as well as Childline and the Teenage Cancer Trust, and this ride should mean that as a group we'll have raised over £1m over the last 5 years for those great causes.
So please do give generously, if not because I've sponsored you (!) then because the causes are excellent. They serve the seriously hard done by and frighteningly well and honestly.
THANK YOU!
