0400hrs on 4 May – 2145hrs 6 May 2012

To raise vital funds for the Christie NHS Foundation Trust (a leading European Cancer Charity based in Manchester) a small team of six ASE employees successfully completed the long distance mountain walk in the Lake District covering 72 Miles over 42 Summits, ascending 27000ft in 65 hours 45minutes, known as the Bob Graham Round.

The team led by Martyn Johnson started out from Wasdale Head and averaged between 16 and 18 hours walking a day, camping for four nights, firstly at Wasdale Head then at Thirlmere before returning to Wasdale Head for the last Night.

Within the 42 Summits conquered were some of the Lake Districts most famous peaks which included Skiddaw, Helvellyn, High Rise, Bowfell, Greatend, Scarfell, Scarfell Pike, Steeple, Great Gable and Green Gable. This route therefore includes all the English 3000ft summits.

 

A massive thank you must go to Clair Dyson and Dave Yorke assisted by Beryl and Trevor Jones for supporting the team and going well beyond the call of duty, without them the challenge would have been nearly impossible.  Mike Fazal and Paul Daly joined the team on the first day to show their support, their company was a great boost to the team.  

 

Trevor apparently showed his ability in the kitchen and baked some amazing cakes for us, or so he said,  he also commented that Beryl had not done anything!!  But all we can say is Beryl your cakes are absolutely fantastic, thank you.

 

It was excellent to see Rob Jones on the return to Wasdale Head especially as he had the much need liquid lubrication required!!
