Story
Thank to everyone who has sponsored us so far, we wanted to give you an update on the weekend activities, particularly with regards to the mourning period and funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.
We want to honour her Majesty's memory and enable team members to participate in the walk if they wish, as well as support them to return home, or to London, in time for Monday's state funeral.
With this in mind, we will continue to walk from Macclesfield to Hathersage this Saturday and Sunday, but we will not be walking to Sheffield on Monday.
Hi there!
We're Sally & Marlize, and we're the CEOs of an amazing charity, The Active Pregnancy Foundation, and we've made it our mission to hold a team challenge every year to raise money to help us continue our work.
Last year we decided to trek up Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) ... at night! It was cold, dark (obvs) and very stormy. In fact, 80mph winds stopped us from reaching the summit. Wet and chilled to the bones we really felt we'd earned our fundraising total of £800.
This year we need to beat that target! So, we're walking across the Peak District - we're still figuring out the route, but whatever happens we're heading across it from Macclesfield, West to East, finishing at Sheffield Children's Hospital.
When we first looked at the route it seemed pretty simple.... it's only 40miles... but now we've got the OS Maps, a walk in the Peaks isn't a walk in the park! We're up for it though, and we've been joined by incredible supporters - the two Louise's - Dr Lou Atkinson, and Louise F-B (makes remembering names a lot easier when we're lost, tired and hungry!)
We've also invited pregnant and postnatal women, their friends and family to join us along the route, and they can walk as little or a much as they like. We'd really want to thank Blaze Trails for their help with this, and we're hoping families from the NCT 'Walk & Talk' groups and the Female Fitness Academy 'Walkin' Talkin' Mums' come along too!
Together we want to make sure every pregnant and postnatal woman in the UK has the information they need to choose to become or remain active.
Every penny motivates us, so please pledge your support!

The Cause
Physical activity confers many physical and mental benefits for pregnant/postnatal women and childbearing people. These benefits include improvements in cardiovascular fitness, mood, and sleep; and a reduced risk of developing high blood pressure problems, gestational diabetes, postnatal depression, and excessive gestational weight gain.
However, despite these benefits, engagement in physical activities is really low, with research showing that only 3-15% of pregnant women are meeting the recommended guidelines. This means that the majority of women and childbearing people are missing out on the associated health benefits...and we are NOT OK with this!
The APF provide providing expertise & advice, whilst changing culture & challenging policy.
