Story
On Saturday 16th of October I will be running the Yorkshire 10 Mile, and am hoping to raise some funds in the process.
In January last year my sister, Lucy, was diagnosed with an extremely rare form of Vasculitis (inflammation of the blood vessels), an auto immune condition called EGPA or Churg-Strauss Syndrome. In my sisters case, due to lack of awareness, her condition went undiagnosed for long enough that she sustained damage to her heart and permanent nerve damage. Thankfully her condition is currently managed with ongoing and regular chemotherapy amongst other treatments. Due to its rarity relatively little is known about the disease, but in recent years it has gone from being a universally fatal condition to one that can be managed with the right treatment, thanks to medical research. Vasculitis UK is a charity that funds research into EGPA and other related illnesses so any donations will be greatly appreciated.
