We challenge attitudes on mental health to help anyone affected by mental illness

Story

Thanks so much for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page!

This October I will tackle 5 of the UK's toughest peaks in the Lake District including the highest- Scafell Pike, to raise money for Rethink Mental Health and to help break the stigma around mental illness.

We have started to move away from mental health being a taboo topic as we are encouraged to talk more openly about our feelings and emotions. This being said, mental health disorders are prevalent and on the rise; with 1 in 4 people experiencing mental health issues each year and suicide being the single biggest killer of men aged under 45 in the UK.

Whilst the NHS faces unprecedented operational and economic challenges, charities like Rethink Mental Health play a critical role in helping not only those individuals suffering from mental illness but supporting family members, friends and carers too.

I am completing this challenge to not only raise money for a cause which is close to my heart but to also stress the importance of speaking up when times are tough, and remembering ‘it is ok not to be ok’. If you are worried about your own or someone's mental health, speak up and talk about it. Nobody should suffer alone.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for any donations you can provide. Visit the Rethink Mental Health webpage to learn about my chosen chairty -https://www.rethink.org.
