Story
The Active Lifestyles club is a voluntary group formed in Leicester to encourage the local community to take up physical exercise. We understand the importance of being physically active and inspire those around us to make long lasting positive lifestyle changes. We have a number of experienced fitness instructors at the club, each with a passion to provide fun and exciting ways to exercise and stay fit.
We are proud to partner Vista with the daily 10,000 step challenge, which is the equivalent of walking five miles a day. Walking is a great way to encourage more of us to improve our health. After all, it’s a cheap, easy and fun way to boost your wellbeing. Studies have found that taking 10,000 steps a day leads to health benefits, such as lower blood pressure, better blood glucose levels and improved mood.
Vista is one of the oldest and largest local charities in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland which works with people with sight loss. Their aim is to promote eye health to prevent avoidable sight loss, reduce the impact of sight loss, and provide support and care for people affected by sight loss (https://www.vistablind.org.uk/).
Members from ALTJ will be competing in the daily 10,000 step challenge raising money for this worthwhile cause and at the same time promoting health and fitness.
