Story
Before the outbreak of COVID-19, we were already facing a loneliness epidemic amongst older people. As a result of the pandemic, this crisis has intensified.
AGE UK Bedfordshire are working hard to relieve the isolation and despair felt by so many, but this Christmas could be the loneliest yet for the elderly people of our town, the people most in need.
As many of you know, I have worked with AGE UK Bedfordshire for 3 years now and have seen first hand the effect that COVID-19 has had on those who are lonely and vulnerable.
There are hundreds of people across Bedfordshire who have been isolated since the start of COVID-19, and we are determined to be there for the people who need us, but we can't do it without support.
I am raising money for AGE UK Bedfordshire so we can provide ‘Hot Boxes’ to the elderly and vulnerable across Bedfordshire this Christmas.
A ‘Hot Box’ consists of items such as:
Flask
Scarf
Gloves
Hat
Socks
Blanket
Seasonal food items (chocolates, biscuits, mince pies, Christmas pudding).
Due to COVID-19, there will be no community Christmas meals taking place for the elderly and vulnerable (this is something that would normally happen across the UK for those who are lonely) which means there will be hundreds of people spending the Christmas period alone. A Hot Box will bring a smile and a sense of hope to those who truly deserve it this Christmas.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this, and an even bigger thank you if you choose to make a donation :)
Be kind always!💜
