Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On the 1st March last year, I made a pledge in front of thousands of people to raise £1,000 for The Brain Tumour Charity. I knew that by committing to run the Warwick Half Marathon taking place a year later would mean me pushing myself further and harder both physically and mentally than ever before. I'm not a natural and the last time I'd run was the 100 metre sprint at sports day when I was 16.

People that know me, I hope, will also see glimpses of my dad. (I try to make him proud from his viewing point up there on his fluffy cloud). He was just 52 when he died of a brain tumour and the most gentle, charming, humble and courageous man I have ever met. Having suffered in this bout of cancer for three years with his face massively disfigured from the disease he 'donated' his body to be used for experimentation so that students and consultants at Birmingham's QE could benefit from his life. He was 'giving' right to the end and I miss him very much.

I'll have trained for 12 months by the date of the run and have clocked up nearly 700 miles, out in all four seasons 4 times a week. It doesn't come easy to me.

In this world of charity donations I'm sure you're bombarded with requests to donate, but all I ask is that you give what you can - regardless of the amount it WILL make a difference. Thank you :)
