Why me? wants to help people overcome trauma they have experienced after being harmed by crime. Our Sponsored Challenge is aiming to raise £2,000, which could allow us to deliver comprehensive Restorative Justice to more victims of crime.

Story

In September, I am attempting my first unofficial Aquathlon, aka run and swim, in the beautiful surroundings of Brighton and Hove.

This will consist of:

10km Run
1km Swim

My attempt will be in aid of the fantastic charity I work for, Why me?, a small Restorative Justice organisation based in London. I am part of a team of people collectively completing 95 miles, symbolic as 95% of people do not hear about Restorative Justice after being a victim of crime.

What is Restorative Justice?

Many victims of crime feel sidelined by the criminal justice process. Restorative Justice gives them the chance to ask questions about the incident, explain the impact that it had on them, and have a say in how the harm can be repaired. This restorative dialogue transforms lives by helping people affected by crime to recover, and helping people who commit crime to stop. Restorative Justice is a proven way to address trauma from crime and reduce re-offending and Why me? are the leading Restorative Justice organisation in England and Wales.
