My name is Elizabeth, also known as Betty. I am 93 years old turning 94 at the end of May. 

I have been reading poems to my family since I went into isolation on 20th March and now they've challenged me to read to you all to raise money for a worthy cause. I will be reading 94 poems in 31 days - 3 poems a day and a final poem on my birthday!

I have chosen the NHS Royal Berkshire Hospital because, throughout my life, they have cared for myself and so many of my extensive family and friends. Most recently, my niece tested positive for Coronavirus and having been cared for at the Royal Berkshire Hospital for three weeks, she is now home having made a fantastic recovery due to the incredible care of the hospital team that cared for her. Alongside this, was the wonderful news that she welcomed a new Great Grandson, who was born at the Royal Berks within a few days of her returning home.

My grandchildren and great-grandchildren were also born here and I was treated there 18 months ago. During my two weeks at the hospital, the care I received was attentive, kind, patient and generous. The staff genuinely care and showed me so much compassion, encouragement and kindness to help me make a full recovery and return home.

This is an incredible hospital with amazing staff that has looked after my family for all my life and I am eternally grateful for their consistent care.

Please give generously to the RBH charity supporting the NHS and help reach the target of £1,094 by my birthday at the end of May.
