Story
In 2007, my wife died of a squamous cell carcinoma of the heart. We had been together for over forty years, since we met at Liverpool University.
Then in 2010, our youngest son died of pancreatic cancer at just 37.
To make matters worse I then had a couple of strokes.
Now, that I have moved to London and have good connections to public transport, which are absolutely necessary as I can't drive, I feel I must raise some money for cancer research. The aim is that it will be used by the Pancreatic Research Unit at Liverpool University to help in our understanding of the disease and hopefully to progress research some way towards a cure.
It is not for me to ride a bicycle to Moscow, so instead I'm going to visit all of the 92 Premier and Football League grounds by public transport in a single calendar month. As I don't believe in making anything easy, I shall be doing it alphabetically from Accrington to Yeovil, hoping to catch the odd match on the way.
I shall be starting on the first of October at Accrington and it looks like I will finish at Yeovil on the 29th.
