Story
I have supported Movember and MoRunning for around 10 years, I commentate and organise races across the UK, mainly in South Wales, so watching so many amazing people achieving their goals is a constant source of inspiration.
Following a major incident in my own life in 2018 I knew I needed to do more.
Mental health is such a huge part of all of our lives and its is something we are getting better at talking about...but we still have a long way to go.
I decided to go back to running, after more than 20 years, and document my progress via my blog 1small-step.com. Things were going well until I got injured and recovery took much longer than expected.
During the 2020 lockdown, I decided to see if I would be able to run again. Starting small with walking, the walk/run gradually I got a bit better.
I took part in Movember's Miles for Mates in total plodding 100km with my fastest 5k time being just under 35minutes.
Looking for my next challenge I saw the Wales Coastal Path virtual challenge - 870 miles over 12 months. So with the help and support of my family, friends, South Wales Running Community and MoRunning.......here we go.
2020 - May 5K, June 10K, September 1/2 marathon, October Marathon
Next is MoRun 2020 - I have been joined by some amazing people who are helping me
Thank you to all the TeamMo870 Jane, Jeremy, Kate, Rebekah, Rachel, Michelle, Trudy and Jon.
If you can help to support me and the members of Team Mo870 by making any donations that would be amazing.
Like the 870 mile challenge, Mental health is such a huge issue and it is likely to impact the lives of so many people.
Doing something to change your life, make a huge difference to you health, both physical and mental but it all starts with One Small Step
