We pioneer life-saving cancer research to help us beat cancer

Story

On Friday 2nd July 2021 – Sunday 4th July 2021  Gwilym O’Donovan, Sean Higgins, Patrick Higgins, Joe Higgins, Dario Oliver, Kristian Hawkes, Tom James, Pat James, Joe Coughlin, Josh Cashman, Sam Byrne,
Josh Davidson, Rhys Hendley, Elliot Shotton, Sam Parselle, Brian Feeney, Josh Broom, Gary James, Sean Austin, James Austin, Alex O’Keeffe, Rhys Ambrose, Gerard McKnight and myself will be attempting to canoe 85 miles down the River Wye.

Sam Bryne is sadly missing out this year due to injury but Sam and Mark O’Donovan will be helping us out and dropping off supplies to us at different stages of the trip.

The 85 mile route takes us from Glasbury – Redbrook and includes a section of rapids. We will camping overnight and aiming to do 24 miles in the first day, 26 miles on the second and 36 miles for the third day.

It’ll be a tough challenge but it’s something we are all desperate to complete.

We will be raising money for Cancer Research. Its for a cause that is very important to us and you don’t need us to tell you that the stats and risk’s of Cancer are pretty shocking. All of our group know people close to us directly affected by Cancer. With Covid 19, the funding to Cancer Medical Services has taken a massive hit and is under resourced so we are hoping to raise as much as we can to help out.

So please help us get to our target and  donate what you can, no matter how big or small. Thanks a lot.

Massive thanks to Dario and iPhone repair specialists Mousetech who have sponsored us again for the third year running.

Also thanks to Josh at Celtic Canoes for all the advice and being so accommodating with supplying the canoes for the challenge. Anyone looking for a day out canoeing on the Wye, we couldn’t recommend these guys enough!

Thank you also to Wester Ross Fisheries supplier of premium quality Scottish salmon for their big donation and for sponsoring us for this challenge!
