Story
The idea came about from a chat in the pub (as most good ideas tend to come about, right?) 'Let's climb Snowdon again BUT this time let's make it a little more challenging. Let's carry a bike to the top & back down again'. 'Yea, sure, why not?!' So, here we are, several months of planning & we have been given the green light by Mountain Rescue to turn this idea into a reality.
On Friday 23rd September a team of 6, 'normal' blokes, will set about carrying a 50kg Assault Bike to the top of Mount Snowdon, churning out 1200 calories at the submit & then proceed to carry the bike all the way back down again!
However, we aren't going to do this 'just because'. Yes, of course it will be a challenge, absolutley no doubt about it & we are as keen as mustard to find out if we have what it takes BUT we are taking this as an opportunity to raise much needed funds for the charities that have supported & looked after those we care about.
In November of 2020 my Mum lost her battle with a brain tumour. The strength & dignity which she displayed throughout her illness was incredible. It is in her memory & in support of Longfield Hospice who did such amazing work in caring for my Mum in her final few months that I will be taking on the mountain.
Others within the team also have their own personal reasons for taking on the challenge & links to the fundraising pages for their chosen chairities can be found on this page. Please check their pages out & give whatever you can!
Training begins now & it's going to be tough! We can't wait to get started. We will upload pictures & video clips throughout so you can check back in & keep up to speed with our preperations.
Thank you for your support.
