Story
In 2023, I unfortunately lost by Dad (Mark) to Cancer.
We thought in 2021 Dad had originally won his fight with Cancer and was in remission, but sadly it returned in 2023 with more venom and on the 3rd July 2023 after a cardiac arrest my Dad sadly passed away.
Six months on, and he is still very much missed by all who knew him. In honour of his memory and love of a pint of Guinness at the Rugby, I've rather foolishly decided to run six Half-Marathons in the Rugby Six Nations to raise money for The Christie Charity, which gave my Dad all the care and support he needed to originally beat Cancer and then further support and care once the Cancer came back. It is a truly exceptional facility that should be supported as much as possible.
Now, back in the day I used to class myself as fairly fit, but age catches up with us all. Therefore for me to run one half-marathon let alone six (!) is a pretty big challenge to be undertaken and I hope the challenge I've set myself is enough for people to support and get behind me to help raise as much as possible for the Christie in memory of Dad.
Dad loved rugby and loved going to Twickenham for the Six Nations with me and my brother Oliver. Some of the best memories we have are visiting HQ watching England win and celebrating with a few pints of Guinness along the way.
It is with that memory that I'll be undertaking a half-marathon in France, Ireland, Wales, Scotland, Italy and England during 2024 (and hopefully a pint of Guinness after each race in memory of Dad!).
I will be posting updates as the year goes on, and will have a few friends supporting me along the way - there's always room for more support!
I hope you can support my cause and more importantly support the Christie in memory of my Dad.
