Story

To raise funds for Cystic Fibrosis Ireland and #65rosesday on Friday, 9th April, I'm running 65 k-in-a-day.

65 Roses Day is the National Fundraising Day for Cystic Fibrosis Ireland and unfortunately their collections cannot proceed on Friday 9th April due to Covid-19.

The theme around the day is 65 ('65 roses' being how they teach kids to say 'Cystic Fibrosis'). Ireland has the highest instance of CF in the world, with 1 in 19 of us carriers of the gene that causes CF. This past year has been an incredibly difficult year for those with CF and the pandemic has limited CF Irelands ability to raise much needed funds on their national fundraising day.

This is their largest fundraising event of the year and targeted to raise 300,000 to help fund essential services needed now more than ever by people with Cystic Fibrosis in Ireland. Please help me support them by donating to my fundraising page. Your support means an incredible amount - thanks.

Cairn Homes - Sharing the Pain
I've managed to convince quite a few of my amazing colleagues at Cairn Homes to jump on-board and they have come up with some great ideas to share the pain.

The Quarter @ Citywest (P2);
165km Cycle - Richard Plunkett, David Walshe & Paul Murtagh - 65000 Steps by Friday - Andrew Kelly, Grzegorz Pondo, Robert Butler & Bronagh McCloskey

Griffith Wood, Griffith Avenue;
65000 Steps by Friday afternoon – Brian Heverin, Conor McDonnell, Mark Curran, Liam Rattigan & Gareth Duffy.
65km Cycle - Toma Achetraritei, David Draper & Noel McGann

Rostrevor Place, Marianella, Rathgar;
65000 Steps by Friday afternoon - Sean Fitzgerald, Darren O'Kelly & Keith Timmons.

Quality Team;
165 km Cycling - Madeline Kane,
65000 steps by Friday - Nick Cantwell, Luke Sutton is addressing 65 Zutec Support Tickets in a day.(Probably the toughest task here)

Seoirse Comerford & Philip O'Connell – 65km Running by Weekend. (Interested to see the times here :D)

Technical Team
James Shanahan is doing 3 x 6.5km runs & has thrown down the gauntlet to Thomas O'Connor, Thomas Lowry, Helen J Finlay, Ronan Lonergan & Michael Kellymór ?

Some popular ideas:

  • 6.5 km run
  • 65km cycle
  • 650000 steps (ideal target between now and Friday afternoon – equates to just over a marathon )
  • 65 Minutes exercise a day
  • Bake 65 Cupcakes

Special shout out to Tommy Carey who will be accompanying me on some (Hopefully all :P) of the run.

Thanks everyone.
Raymond
